My training & Coaching Philosophy
When I train I use a number of techniques and protocols to get me in the best shape based on my desired outcome in that particular training phase. Over the past few years I have tried and tested numerous methods to build technique and strength in specific exercises such as the deadlift and log press, alongside many competition specific programmes.
I put a lot of emphasis into learning the correct technique to enable the highest possible weight to be lifted time and again, whilst minimising injury risk. This also helps to build confidence in a lift whether a beginner or advanced, helping to level up your lifts.
When training during the off-season, I like to focus on becoming a well-rounded athlete, giving myself the time to work on any strength or technique weaknesses and trying to build a good overall base of strength giving myself the best chance to start a competition peak in good shape.
To start a competition prep I will typically take note of any of my weaker events and plan to bring these to a good standard in plenty of time by building upon the event exercise itself alongside any appropriate accompanying exercises, before becoming more competition specific later down the line.
I also like to keep my training interesting and fun, so I am very likely to keep a favourite event in my programme from time to time, making sure it doesn't interfere with the main task at hand!
Throughout my strength journey I have been open to learning as much as possible about strongman, strength & conditioning and programming and am proud of the qualifications and certifications I have embarked upon. I am always on the lookout for improved methods and techniques and am always happy to test them out on both myself and my clients.
